1. Introduction

This article will simple demonstrate the obvious flaws in the beliefs and practices of shias. My intention is not to hurt anyone, but rather to convey the Truth. Neither would I be speaking ill about any figure shias highly respect. In fact, we Muslims love all the Sahabas of the Prophet (pbuh). Its rather the shias who speak ill and even curse many of the companions of the Prophet (pbuh).Shias are a small minority of Muslims. They are only about 15%.

Everything I’ll be proving in this article will be from the Quran only. I’ll not quote a single hadith to prove my point because if I do so, the shias would be quick to say that they don’t believe in that hadith. They reject the hadith from many sahabas and even from Hazrat Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet (pbuh).

This article will inshallah convince any open-minded and sincere person.

2. Obvious flaws of Shiaism

1. Hatred towards many Sahabas (companions)

Shias generally hate many companions of the Prophet (pbuh). The foremost among them are Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman (May Allah be pleased with them). They even go to the extent of cursing them.

Now lets see what Allah has to say in the Quran.

The Quran honors the Sahabas and ask us to follow the way of the Prophet and the Believers (referring to the sahabas). The Quran says

“If anyone contends with the Messenger even after guidance has been plainly conveyed to him, and follows a path other than that becoming to men of Faith, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen, and land him in Hell,- what an evil refuge!” (Quran 4:115)

Note: In the above verse Allah doesn’t stop only to the Prophet. Allah goes on to mention the MEN OF FAITH or BELIEVERS. This is the clear reference to the Sahabas of the Prophet (pbuh). So how can any Muslim hate any of the sahabas of Rasoolullah (pbuh)?

More over the Glorious Quran has a verse which has direct reference to Abu Bakr (RA), But the Holy Quran has no verse which directly refers to Hazrat Ali (RA). I am by no means trying to belittle Ali (RA), But I am only responding to the shias’ hatred towards Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA).

The Quran says

“for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us" (Quran 9:40)

This verse is referring to the time of migration from Mecca to Medina when Muhammad (pbuh) and Abu Bakr (RA) were in the cave and the unbelievers were very near, had they seen them they would have killed them.

See how clearly Allah refers to Abu Bakr as COMPANION of the Prophet (pbuh). In Arabic its “Ashabi”

Allah is pleased with the sahabas so are they pleased with him.

The vanguard (of Islam)- the first of those who forsook (their homes) and of those who gave them aid, and (also) those who follow them in (all) good deeds,- well- pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him: for them hath He prepared gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: that is the supreme felicity. (Qur’an 9:100)

The first who forsook their homes were the ‘muhajirun’ who migrated from Mecca to Medina and those who gave them aid were the ansar. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah.

Allah calls the sahabas are ‘True believers’

‘Those who believe, and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith, in the cause of Allah as well as those who give (them) asylum and aid,- these are (all) in very truth the Believers:” (Qur’an 8:74)

In the above ayah Allah calls the sahabas are ‘True believers’. The whole Surah is based on Battle of Badr. According to the above Ayah anyone who believed, migrated and fought in the say of Allah and all those who aided them (referring to the muhajirun and Ansar). All of them Allah says are true Believers.

The Qur’an says

6. O ye who believe……………. But Allah has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness;- (Qur’an 49:6-7)

So my request to all shias is to stop hating all the great sahabas of Rasoolullah (pbuh) and if you curse them then stop doing so before Allah’s punishment comes to you.

2. Hatred towards Ayesha (RA)

Shias also hate Hazrat Ayesha (RA) the wife of the Prophet (pbuh). Many of them even go to the extent of accusing her of fornication (May Allah curse all those who accuse her of such falsehood).

They expect everyone to hate her just because she and hazrat Ali (RA) fought a battle called “Battle of Jamal”. I won’t be entering into any debate as to who as right and as to who was wrong, both of them were extremely close to the Prophet (pbuh). One being the wife of the Prophet (pbuh) and the other being the son-in-law of the Prophet (pbuh) and one among four people who embraced Islam on the first day when Muhammad (pbuh) proclaimed Prophethood, Abu Bakr ( Hazrat Ayesha’s father), Khadija and Zaid (May Allah be pleased with them) were the other three. We are not the ones to decide as to who was right and who was wrong. We as ordinary Muslims have no right to judge between the companions of the Prophet (pbuh).

As for the shias who hate Hazrat Ayesha (RA), I would just like to remind them that Hazrat Ayesha (RA) is their MOTHER. The Quran says

“The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers” (Quran 33:6)

If you have a problem with the translation, so here are at least 10 translations of this very verse. All say the same thing.

The text of the Quran is very clear in this regard that the wives of the Prophet (pbuh) are our mothers. Hence, Ayesha (RA) is our mother and anyone who hates or curses her indeed hates his mother!!

3. Matam

Many shias beat themselves to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA). They even severely bleed themselves and many of them even die as a result of that.

Harming your own self and your body is prohibited by Allah the most High in the Quran. The Quran says

“and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” (Quran 2:195)

“Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves:” (Quran 4:29)

If doing matam is something which is holy. Then I would like to ask, did Muhammad (pbuh) ever do such a thing in his life? Or did any of his companions including Hazrat Ali, ever do such a thing in their life? The answer is No !. So how can such a thing be considered as something Holy. Do you think you are holier than the Prophet (pbuh)?

Doing of matam is totally prohibited in Islam.

4. Their claim that Muhammad (pbuh) was Literate.

Many shias claim that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was literate. Whereas we believe that he was illiterate and when angel Gabriel asked him to read in the cave of Hira. He replied “I am not learned”. Shias believe that this is not so but Muhammad (pbuh) was literate.

There are at least two verses in the Quran which clearly say that Muhammad (pbuh) was ILLITERATE.

“Those who follow the apostle, the unlettered Prophet (Ummi) “ (Quran 7:157)

“And thou wast not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor art thou (able) to transcribe it with thy right hand: In that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted.” (Quran 29:48)

But the Shias argue, what about the first revelation of the Quran where Prophet (pbuh) was commanded to READ.

The reply is that the word used in Quran 96:1 (The first revelation to the Prophet) is “IQRA” which has several meanings. Which means to “Read, recite or proclaim"

In the above context the right meaning is “Recite”. The reason being that when Prophet (pbuh) was held by angel Gabriel and commanded to “Read” the Prophet replied “I am not learned” He did so twice. The third time angel of God recited the full verse and Muhammad (pbuh) knew now that he was to repeat actually what Angel Gabriel said.

If anyone still argues that Muhammad (pbuh) was literate then they go completely against the verses of the Quran 29:48 and 7:157

E. Making PURE shirk with Allah (SWT)

Many of the shias they make PURE shirk with Allah. I am not mentioning certain outcast cults of shias like nusairis etc. who say that Hazrat Ali is god. I am talking about the common shias. I’ll mention some of them.

(i) Their statements like “Ya Ali Madad” (I am sure you must have heard that)

They call upon Hazrat Ali for any kind of help. They sorta make dua to Hazrat Ali. The Quran says

“"And invoke not besides Allah, any that will neither profit you, nor hurt you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers)." (Quran 10:106)

The Quran in the above verse says that one who calls upon anyone other than Allah will be of the wrongdoers.

In Islam, we cannot call upon anyone else other than Allah for any type of help. We cannot make dua to anyone other than Allah. Its shirk with Allah.

(ii) Asking Hazrat Ali to intercede with Allah

Many Shia Muslims ask Hazrat Ali to intercede with Allah. The same mistake that the pagans of Mecca did. Many of them believed in Allah and his Lordship (Quran 10:31). But they considered their idols as intercessors between them and Allah. The Quran says

“They serve, besides Allah, things that hurt them not nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." (Quran 10:18)

It is prohibited to ask someone to intercede with Allah. He commands us to pray and supplicate to him directly. The Quran says

“And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation!" (Quran 40:60)

This is nothing but Pure shirk with Allah.
